UK wheat area seen at 1.8 million hectares, down 14 percent on-year
                         

   
Land dedicated to wheat cropping in the UK has fallen by around 14 percent on the year to 1.8 million hectares as at June, figures published by the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs showed Thursday (September 24).

 

Barley cropping area was up 12 percent at around 1.2 million hectares of the overall cereal cropping area of 3.1 million hectares, according to the report.

 

However, total cereal cropping area was down around 5 percent on the year.
