US August catfish feed delivery down 3 percent on-year

Total catfish feed delivered in the United States during August 2007 was 145,834 tonnes, down 3 percent from August 2006, but up 4 percent from the previous month.

Foodsize catfish feed delivered totalled 135,806 tonnes, down 2 percent from the corresponding month a year ago. Feed delivered for fingerlings and broodfish totalled 10,028 tonnes, down 14 percent from the corresponding month a year ago.

August feed delivered to Mississippi catfish growers for foodsize fish totalled 65,099 tonnes, down 4 percent from last year and accounted for 48 percent of the total foodsize catfish feed delivered to US farmers.

The other major with catfish feed deliveries for foodsize fish in August and their comparison to the previous year were: Major catfish producers Alabama had feed deliveries with 35,532 tonnes, down 2 percent; Arkansas with 23,786 tonnes, up 4 percent; and Louisiana with 4,447 tonnes, up 2 percent from last year.
