Informa sees US 2007 corn planted acres at 83.1 million; soy at 71.8 million

 

 

Private analytical firm Informa Economics released its estimates of 2007 US planted acreage for corn, soybeans and wheat Friday (Sep 22), sources said.

 

The firm estimated US 2007 corn planted acreage at 83.1 million acres, above the 79.366 million acres reported by the US Department of Agriculture in June.

 

Informa projected 2007 US soybean planted soybean acreage at 71.8 million acres, down from 74.930 million planted in 2006, according to the USDA.

 

2007 all wheat planted acreage was estimated at 62.5 million acres, compared to the 57.873 million acres planted in 2006.

 

The USDA will release its first estimate of planted acreage in January.
