Dostofarm to showcase phytogenic products at EuroTier

At EuroTier 2014, the animal feed specialist Dostofarm GmbH will showcase its product range of phytogenic feed active substances to increase the performance and to promote the health of different species of livestock.
Dostofarm is the global market leader for the manufacturing of livestock feed supplements made from natural oregano oil. From Westerstede, Germany, Dostofarm exports to more than 40 countries. As the world's only supplier of such supplements, the company produces in a fully, vertically integrated process. Its product range includes aroma premixes and feed supplements to improve the appetite, feed intake and state of health mainly for cattle, swine and poultry under organic and conventional management.
The product DF3000 for drinking water disinfection represents the most recent research at Dostofarm. It aims to get rid of the problem with germ-infested drinking water, which can cause disease and loss of performance.
Drinking water with a measured bacterial count of more than 10,000 colony-forming units per millilitre was treated for five days and the contamination was reduced to zero. In doing so, the focus was on widespread coliform bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, together with the dreaded strain EHEC, and also Pseudomonas, Staphylococci, Legionella, as well as other lactose-splitting bacteria. The efficacy on viruses and fungi is also proven.
The efficiency of this new development is based on the combination of two biochemical modes of action: changing the redox behaviour of water, which prevents the bacteria from obtaining energy for their further development; adding a small amount of chlorine bleach to achieve immediate effects.
Utilisation is easy, since the aqueous solution is added to the drinking water using normal dosing devices. In toxicological terms, DF3000 is considered to be harmless, non-corrosive and does not irritate the skin or mucous membranes. The solution is pH-neutral and completely biologically decomposable.
