China becomes second largest importer of Australian food in 2012/13
According to the data from Australia's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry on September 17, China imported AUD2.915 billion (US$2.75 billion) worth of food from Australia during the financial year 2012/13, making China the second largest destination for Australian food exports.
The figure represents a significant increase of 40.5% on-year, and accounts for 9.2% of the total value in Australia's food exports in this period.
With AUD4.212 billion (US$3.96 billion) worth of food imports, Japan stays ahead of China as the largest importer of Australian food in 2012/13.
