India's kharif grain production to show increase
In the current kharif season, total grain production in the country is likely to go up to 114.63 million tonnes, from 103.84 million tonnes in 2009-10 - an increase of about 11 million tonnes on-year.
Oilseeds production in the current kharif season is likely to be 17.27 million tonnes against 15.66 million tonnes last season.
Total coarse cereals production is estimated to go up to 28.23 million tonnes, up 7.60 million tonnes from 23.63 million tonnes in the previous season.
Among oilseeds, soy production is projected to fall to 9.81 million tonnes from 10.05 million tonnes in the previous season. Total production of all nine oilseeds in the current khariff season is expected to rise to 17.27 million tonnes from 15.66 million tonnes in the previous season.
