EW Nutrition GmbH has launched a new dietary supplement, Globigen Dia Stop, which can help prevent diarrhoea in ruminants.

Dia Stop is a combination of immunoglobulin-rich egg powder and Globigen Dia Complex and electrolytes.

About 75 percent of all calf losses are caused by diarrhoea, especially during the first weeks of life young ruminant's immunity system is developed insufficiently.

The source of resistance, which is needed against the diarrhoea-causing pathogens like rota- and corona virus, E. coli, clostridia etc., is missing. Until now diarrhoea was mainly treated with electrolytes and antibiotics, but electrolytes only combat the symptoms of dehydration.

Globigen Dia Stop however has multiple and more powerful effects. It could balance losses of body electrolytes, stops abruptly acute diarrhoea, and combat the cause of diarrhoea.

The immunoglobulins contained in the egg powder fraction of Dia Stop bind the diarrhoea-causing pathogens and make them harmless. Hens produce antibodies against pathogens occurring in their environment without necessarily showing symptoms. These antibodies are then transferred into the egg as an ''immunity starter kit'' for the chick.

Antibodies from the egg can also serve other animals as immunity supplements. Specific hyper-immunisation of hens with pathogens causing diarrhoea in calves and lambs leads to production of eggs containing exactly these specific antibodies, which are used in Globigen Dia Stop.
