China's Hainan Province Implements A Large-Scale Hog Farming Project
An eFeedLink Exclusive Report
A pig farm with a holding capacity for 300,000 pigs has been built in Juding District, Haikou city, Hainan province, China. The project has been planned in response to the need to promote cooperation between individual hog farmers and large-scale hog farming enterprises.
With an annual production capacity of 18,000 piglets, the recently built farm, known as Hai Hai Pig Farm, occupies an area of 200 mu (1 mu=0.0667 hectares).
Under the plan, Hai Hai Pig Farm will supply piglets to individual farmers who are interested to participate in a hog-farming program. Luo Niushan Company will supply breeder pigs to the farm and at the same time provide technical support and feed to the farmers.
The farmers will raise the piglets assigned to them and manage their own farming operations. These farmers have the option to expand their farms and raise their hog production output to between 500-2,000 heads per year. Hai Hai Pig Farm is obliged to buy matured pigs from these farmers who take part in the program.
