Pakistan's agricultural export to Malaysia records 81% increase in H1

 
 

Pakistan's agricultural exports to Malaysia recorded a healthy increase of 81% with exports of RM352 million (US$113.62 million) in the first half of this year as compared with RM194 million (US$62.62 million) in the same period of 2009.

 

According to the latest data obtained from Malaysian Trade Development Authority (MARTRADE) by Pakistan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

 

From January to June, corn with an export of RM6 million (US$1.94 million) compared with the RM3.7 million (US$1.19 million) recorded a robust growth of 61%.

 

The Malaysian export to Pakistan also registered a robust growth of 13.57% with total exports of RM 3.22 billion (US$ 1.04 billion) compared with RM 2.84 billion (US$ 0.92 billion) of first six months of last year.

 

However, Pakistan exports of fish to Malaysia registered a decline of 54.67%.

 

High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia, Masood Khalid has urged the Malaysian importers to consider importing non-traditional items, such as vegetables and meat and meat-based products which are known the world over due to their high quality and price competitiveness. He also urged the Pakistan exporters to improve the efficiency of their supply chain, quality of their products and make proactive efforts to forge partnership arrangements with Malaysian importers to make a permanent place in growing Malaysian market.
