Ukraine's 2010 grain production to hit nearly 39 million tonnes
Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov declared on September 22 that Ukraine has already harvested grains and leguminous plants, including corn, throughout over 84% of the planned areas.
According to Azarov, the general grain production will total nearly 39 million tonnes. To date, the country exported nearly 3 million tonnes of grains.
The Prime Minister informed that the current weather conditions support the active realisation of the sowing campaign. Agrarians sowed 3.6 million hectares of crops, or 63% from the forecasted areas.
According to him, agrarians do not have problems concerning the provision with material and technical resources and seeds that is why the government expects for rather good results of the winter sowing campaign.
As a reminder, on September 21, Sergey Melnik, the First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, informed that Ukrainian grain production in 2010 will total 38 million tonnes in clean weight.
Previously, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy decreased grain production forecast from the level of 40-41 million tonnes to 38.6 million tonnes as opposed to 46 million tonnes in 2009.
