Methionine Prices in China Remain Firm

Recent methionine prices in China continued to remain firm, with prices increasing gradually and active transactions seen. Current quotations for powder methionine average between RMB25.0-25.5/kg, with general transacted prices hovered at RMB24.6-25.0/kg, and above RMB25.0/kg above in certain regions. 

 

Meanwhile, prices for liquid methionine are relatively stable, with quotations at RMB21.0/kg and transacted prices between RMB20.5-20.8/kg.

               

As a result of supposedly regulated supply from methionine producers that has resulted in recent tightness in supply, led many traders to ask for higher prices when making offers to feed milers. The impact of soaring lysine prices has also indirectly influenced the acceptance of higher prices for methionine in China. Like most raw materials for feed production, methionine is seen headed for better prices in the nearby term.
