Potential Seen in Continual Price Hikes of Raw Materials; Feed Millers in China Preoccupied with Raising Prices
For the week ended September 22, prices for soymeal, lysine and other raw materials in China are seen on a no-end chain of price hikes. Soymeal prices throughout China surge continually, and the supply of lysine continues to remain extremely tight in certain regions.
Feed millers have been taking action to raise the prices of their feed products since soymeal prices began to rise from August this year. Accordingly, animal production costs are seen to rise as well. Some market participants thereby forecast that prices of poultry meat, eggs and milk are likely to continue moving up into early 2004.
