Ukrainian meat output rise in August

In August, Ukraine produced 1.77 million tonnes of meat in live weight, up 6.3% compared to last year, according to the State Statistics Committee.

At the same time, milk production decreased by 3.6% to 7.87 million tonnes, while production of eggs rose by 5.4% to 11.51 billion eggs.

As of September 1, 2010, the number of cattle in Ukraine amounted to 5.44 million head, down 3% on-year. The pig stock grew by 12.3% to 8.43 million, while poultry rose 5.3% to 233.5 million.
