Cattle herds moved to replenish diminished supplies in Australia
Cattle from the Northern Territory in Australia are being move south to replenish Queensland's herds, which have been depleted because of prolong drought, according to a Queensland livestock agent.
The additional cattle are helping to keep up the supply to lucrative export markets like Japan, Graham Stretton said.
Prices offered in Queensland are better since they are slate for exports, he said. Since demand from Japan is strong currently, cattle is fetching high prices.
The situation may last up to ten months or even longer, Stretton added.
