Plans underway to get China's seafood GFT certified

China, in a bid to improve the safety of its seafood products, is discussing with Global Food Technologies, Inc. ("GFT"), a biotech food safety company, plans for its entry into China to certify its seafood.

GFT executives and members of its advisory board met with State and Provincial leaders to discuss GFT's entry into China's seafood industry last week in the midst of The Small and Medium Enterprises Fair held in the southern province of Guangdong.

China produces a quarter of the world's seafood and GFT's advanced technologies would be able to assist the country's exports and domestic products, said Han Min, CEO of the Chinese Seafood Certification Institute.

The fair was an apt venue for the meeting as Guangdong Province is first in seafood and it is the most economically active province in China, Han Min said.

The Chinese Seafood Certification Institute believes that GFT's iPura label could become a worldwide icon for clean and safe food and the project to get China's seafood certified by GFT would be beneficial to the industry.
