Brazil's chicken meat export value up 8.62% in Jan-Aug
Despite a 2% drop in shipments, Brazil's revenues from chicken meat exports have improved.
Figures from the Brazilian Poultry Association show an 8.62% increase in value to BRL5.413 billion (US$2.5 billion) in January-August of 2013.
For August, exports were 5.1% higher, reaching 333,600 tonnes. Last month earned 7.5% more than August 2012 making BRL640 million (US$291 million).
Association figures illustrate that sales of whole chicken have been around 5% higher despite decline in chicken cuts. This is the only segment of the chicken meat market boasting higher figures than 2012.
