China's soybean supply to surge in coming year

China's soy supply is expected to surge 50 million tonnes in the 2006 to 2007 period, a record high, said Li Ke, an official of the State Grain and Oil Information Centre at the recently held 2006 China Autumn Grain and Oil Market Fair in Harbin, China.

The State Grain and Oil Information Centre predicts that in the 2006-2007 period, China's soy output would be 16.5 million tonnes and the soybean import, 31 million tonnes.

With the 3.7-million-tonne stock from 2005 taken into account, China's total soybean supply will reach 51.2 million tonnes in 2006, the centre said.
