Kazakhstan to more than double grain exports this year
Kazakhstan's grain exports for this year is expected to more than double to 4.7 million tonnes compared with 2005, the Vice-President of Food Contract Corporation, Saparhan Omarov said Tuesday (Sep 19).
The grain harvest is forecasted to total 14 million tonnes while exports are expected to reach 4.7 million tonnes.
The main markets include Russia, Ukraine and other countries of CIS, Transcaucasia, Iran, and probably China.
The Food Corporation is expecting to export anywhere from 500,000 tonnes to 1.5 million tonnes depending on market conditions. The company exported 450,000 tonnes last year.
