GM crops exports to the Philippines reached US$1.5 billion in 2012. The country is among the biggest GM crop users in Asia, where GM corn is mainly used for animal feed. The expansion of GM corn plantation also contributed to the robust production of the crop last year which reached 7 million tonnes.
