Ukraine's milk production up 2.5% for January to August 2012
Ukraine has seen 7.8 million tonnes in milk production output for the first eight months of 2012, a 2.5% rise than during the same period of 2011.
In particular, agricultural enterprises increased their milk production by 13%, said Andriy Getya, director of the Department of Livestock.
The director of the Department also noted that in households, programme of grants to pay for the preservation and maintenance of young cattle will stimulate milk production as livestock on these farms will grow gradually.
According to Andriy Getya, to reduce the cost of milk for Ukrainian consumers first of all we need to reduce the cost of production.
The Director of the Department added that the Government will spend for the establishment of agricultural cooperatives and aid everyone in organisational development issues.
