US dairy exports sprints ahead
US dairy exports are having a bumper year, with every major dairy product reporting spectacular growth rates, according to National Dairy Board Vice Chairman, Les Hardesty.
For the first six months of 2006, US dairy exports totaled more than US$932 million, growing three percent from last year's record.
Hardesty sees these gains as evidence that investments in the work of the US dairy export council, such as dairy checkoffs, are paying off.
Cheese exports were up 29 percent, whey protein shipments were up 22 percent, and lactose exports up 17 percent.
Most of US dairy exports go to Mexico, Canada, and Southeast Asia.
