Thailand's Charoen Pokphand takes over meat processing activities
Thai poultry giant Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), has taken over the meat processing activities of sister firm C.P. Interfood. This move was part of the company's consolidation in food products.
CPF would take over the manufacture and distribution of processed meats. It would also reportedly become the country's leader in sausage production with about 40 percent of the THB10 billion domestic market for sausages.
In addition, CPF would reportedly gain about THB1 million worth of fixed assets and inventories from C.P. Interfood, granting it access to new production facilities, the firm's customer base and distribution channels.
With C.P. Interfood already a major producer of ready-to-eat food products for exports, CPF was expected to benefit in its own export business through this move, reports said.
