Estonia's meat prices face declination due to swine fever outbreak
Estonia's meat prices is expected to fall with the outbreak of African swine fever in the country, according to agriculture minister, Ivar Padar.
"Prices have fallen for meat, milk and as well as grain. We are in the falling market phase," said Padar.
Currently, the EU member state is affected by recent Russian sanctions on Western products. Local dairy and fisheries will also face challenges as larger subsidies are not expected next year.
The minister added that infected meat would not be sold.
The swine fever disease was discovered in a baby wild boar earlier this year. More recently, six wild boars were registered as being infected. No cases of swine fever have been registered on pig farms yet.
