Brazilian beef export value in the first eight months of 2008 increased 21 percent from the same period in 2007.

From January to August 2008, Brazil exported 1.4 million tonnes of beef at a value of US$3.5 billion. The volume was an increase of 15.5 percent on-year, according to industry association Abiec. 

Brazilian beef exports are expected to reach US$5.1 billion in fiscal 2008, up from US$5.03 billion in 2007.
