Thailand district Ladprao's pork price rises
The price of pork in Ladprao district, Bangkok, is higher than that set by the Department of Internal Trade, at THB135-140 (US$4.20-4.40) per kilogramme.
According to the department, pork price for September 13-18, 2013 has been set at THB124 (US$3.90) per kilogramme, with an additional THB10 (US$0.31) per kilogramme if it is specially trimmed. However, sellers in Ladprao district have reportedly been selling it between THB135-140 (US$4.20-4.40) per kilogramme, and up to THB150 (US$4.72) for pork fillets or other parts which is much higher than the limit set by the Department.
Sellers said that it is difficult to comply with the price set by the Department because buyers prefer specially cut pork of premium quality and do not mind paying more for what they want as long as they get their demands in terms of cuts and preferences.
