Brazil's beef and pork sales to Russia rise 97%

 

 

Brazil' sales of beef and pork rise 14.9% and 9.3%, respectively, and exports of these products to Russia increase 97%, reaching US$126.7 million in August, as compared to the same period in 2011.

 

For the export of pork to Russia, the expansion of value was 327.5%.

 

Exports from Brazil in August of the two meats totalled US$658 million. The increases were 28.7% for beef and 17.6% for pork.

 

In August this year, Russia imported US$88.6 million of beef, up 62% from August 2011.

 

Iran is the second largest buyer of beef (US$67 million and 14.3 thousand tonnes), followed by Hong Kong (US$60.7 million and 17.4 thousand tonnes), Egypt (US$57.2 and 14.8 million tonnes) and Chile (US$41.6 million and 7.4 thousand tonnes).

 

As for pork, sales to Russia were 327.5% compared to net sales and 387% compared to the volume of the same month last year (US$38 million and 14 200 tonnes).

 

Ukraine followed second (US$28 million and 11 600 tonnes), Hong Kong third (US$24.5 million and 10.3 thousand tonnes), Argentina fourth and Angola fifth (US$8.1 million and 4.2 thousand tonnes).
