FMD occurs in northern Vietnamese provinces
There have been 281 cattle in about 20 communes of four northern and highland provinces of Vietnam infected with foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) so far this month, according to local media reports on Wednesday (Sep 16).
Of the total, 32 buffalos and cows are in northern province of Yen Bai and 20 buffalos, cows and pigs in Son La northern province.
In highland province of Dak Nong, 61 cattle in ten communes were infected with the foot-and-mouth disease. In Dak Lak highland province, 168 buffalos, cows and pigs were found positive with the disease.
According to the report, at least 31 infected cattle in the two highland provinces have been destroyed so far.
Currently, health officials of the four provinces are taking prevention measures and finding the source of the infections.
