UK wheat exports reach 165,636 tonnes in July
                             


UK wheat exports for July, the first month of the 2009-10 marketing year, totalled 165,636 tonnes, data published by the Home Grown Cereals Authority showed Wednesday (Sept 16).

 

This is a sharp rise from the 91,755 tonnes of wheat exported by the UK over the same period the previous year.

 

Spain was the largest buyer, taking delivery of 57,147 tonnes of wheat, followed by the Netherlands which imported 37,145 tonnes and Portugal which imported 36,216 tonnes.

 

Spain was also the biggest importer of UK wheat during the 2008-09 July-June marketing year.
