Ukraine sees grain production at 38.6 million tonnes

Grain production in Ukraine in 2010 is expected at 38.6 million tonnes, while grain exports in the current marketing year (July 2010 through June 2011) are projected at 12.7 million tonnes, according to the latest forecast made by the Ukrainian Agriculture Ministry.

Director of the Agriculture Ministry's Department for the Development of Agrarian Markets Anatoliy Rozgon said that this forecast was not the last one. The ministry has already reviewed the balance of grain for the current marketing year three times. According to the ministry's forecast made in August, the grain harvest was expected at nearly 40 million tonnes, while grain exports were projected at 13.8 million tonnes.

The official noted that the forecast for the grain harvest and grain exports had been downgraded at the expense of corn.
