Kazakhstan's export ban on rapeseed and edible oils kicks in
The short-term ban came into effect on September 13.
The ban ordered by governmental regulation â„–777 of August 28 was published on September 3.
Kazakhstan is a country in central Asia and Europe, and is the sixth largest grain supplier in the world.
The government enacted short-term bans on the export of crushed and non-crushed rapeseed, crude and purified soy, mustard and rape oils and other products made from these, but without chemistry changes.
The ban will last until April 1, 2009.
The country recently ended its ban on grain exports. The ban was imposed after a record 8 million tonnes of wheat left the country in 2007.
The government, in ending the ban, said it would seek to avoid such bans in future.
