China's September soy imports to stay flat

China's soy imports in September are expected to remain flat with August's 4.7 million tonnes, according to estimates by the Commerce Ministry.

The ministry's figures, based on reports from buyers, indicate higher soyoil imports in September at 273,647 tonnes, up from 263,245 tonnes as reported for August from Brazil and the US. No cargoes were loaded from Argentina in September since the two countries were involved in a dispute over a number of trade issues.

The ministry's figures, published twice per month, fail to catch all shipments but provide a reference for buyers to gauge supply.

Its earlier estimation was 4.34 million tonnes.
