Russia's January-July poultry imports decline

Russia's poultry imports fell in the January-July period to 691,300 tonnes from 702,600 tonnes in the year-earlier period, according to the federal customs service.

The poultry imported in January-July was worth US$467 million, compared with US$441.1 million in January-July 2005.

Russia's domestic poultry production is increasing, while demand fell earlier this year because of fears of bird flu.
