Cargill and Safeway in partnership for beef products

Cargill and Safeway are working on a localised line of beef products for Safeway stores in Colorado, US.

The steaks, roasts, stew meat, cube steak and stir fry beef in the "Colorado Proud" line - all aged at least 14 days - will be processed at Cargill's Colorado.facility.

The line is part of the state Department of Agriculture's Colorado Proud programme to increase awareness of foods produced in that state.

"We're delighted to be associated with Safeway's introduction of Colorado Proud beef products, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the first Rancher's Reserve branded meat products," said Nicole Johnson-Hoffman, assistant vice president and general manager at Cargill's Fort Morgan operation.

Opened in 1966, Cargill's Fort Morgan beef plant can harvest 1.2 million head of cattle annually and employs 2,000.
