China cuts estimates on 2009 corn, wheat and soy outputs
China National Grain and Oils Information Centre (CNGOIC) has cut its September forecasts on the output of corn, wheat and soy for 2009 but kept its estimate on the rapeseed output unchanged from August.
Â
CNGOIC has revised down its estimates on 2009 output of corn, wheat, and soy by one million tonne, 550,000 tonnes and 500,000 tonnes respectively. The new figures stood at 165.5 million tonnes, 114.95 million tonnes and 14.5 million tonnes respectively.
Â
However, the centre maintained its estimate on 2009 rapeseed output at 13.5 million tonnes.
Â
Meanwhile, CNGOIC raised its estimates on this year's planting area of corn and wheat by 860,000 hectares and 200,000 hectares respectively but it lowered the estimate on that of soy by 400,000 hectares.
Â
It also increased its estimate on 2008 corn planting area by 710,000 hectares and in the meantime cut its forecasts on the 2008 acreage of wheat and soy by 280,000 hectares and 420,000 hectares respectively.
