Genencor International, a division of Danisco that develops enzymes for grain processing, has expanded its complex in Cedar Rapids and opened a new applied research centre.

The US$52 million facility allows the company to keep pace with the growing grain processing and biofuels industry, said Glenn Nedwin, vice president of technical enzymes for Genencor.

The facility works with other companies on their own technology, improving their operations, he said.
