DSM introduces new carotenoid for aquaculture

Dutch chemicals group Royal DSM NV is introducing a new product which aims to increase stability during the processing and storage of aqua feed products.

The product, called CAROPHYLL Stay-Pink, is a development within the field of carotenoids which makes use of an improved structure to protect the astaxanthin molecule. Astaxanthin is the carotenoid that provides the typical rich colour associated with salmon flesh.

The company said the product is now in process of being registered in the European Union.
