National Beef completes plant expansion

After one year, National Beef Packing Co. LLC is ready to announce the completion of a US$4.5 million expansion of its beef processing plant in Moultrie, Georgia, the company said Wednesday (Sept 13).

With the expansion, the company added 18,000-square-foot to its plant, now at 120,000 square feet. It also brought the plant's headcount to 575.

National Beef Packing, whose majority owner is US Premium Beef LLC, is one of the top five beef-processing companies in the US and processes 12 percent of the beef supply in the US. 

More than 2,000 producers from 33 states market cattle through US Premium Beef's network.
