Japanese Researchers Develop Bird Flu Vaccine

 

A group of researchers in Japan has developed a bird flu vaccine for chickens. The team, led by Hiroshi Kida, a Hokkaido University professor who specializes in veterinarian microbiology, aim to mass-produce and store the vaccine in three years.

 

In Japan, bird flu vaccine shots for chickens have never been administered. This is because experts believe disposing of the livestock is an effective way to prevent the disease from spreading.
