Turkey's wheat production hit record high in 2013
Turkey's 2013 wheat production reached 22 million tonnes, a record in the Turkish Republic's history.
This is according to Turkish Minister of Agriculture, Food & Animal Breeding Mehdi Eker.
Speaking at the opening of 17th International Agriculture Expo in Turkey's capital Ankara, Eker reminded that Turkey ranked seventh in the world in agricultural production.
Eker stressed knowledge and technology as the most important input, that maintaining these with convenient policies had yielded a positive result. He added that expos helped in making the latest agricultural technology known to everyone.
He also stated that they donated 50% of the 181,000 projects since 2007 to "developing mechanisation in agriculture," adding that the project helped Turkey's agriculture to increase from US$23 billion to US$62.5 billion over the last 10 years.
The expo where both international and Turkish companies presented their advanced technology machines for agricultural production was organised by Agrotech 2013.
