Slow demands drag down China's sulphate additives prices

Cupric sulphate

Producers slashed prices amid lower output costs in a bid to clear stocks.

Excess supplies will continue to weigh on cupric sulphate market in conjunction with weak copper prices.

Zinc sulphate

Flat demand and ample supplies limited the upward potential of zinc sulphate market which strengthened during late August.

As of September 12, ex-factory price quotes for zinc sulphate in Jiangxi and Hunan were unchanged at RMB3,900-4,000/tonne and RMB3,800-3,850/tonne respectively.

Domestic demand for zinc sulphate is expected to remain slack. Zinc sulphate prices are therefore unlikely to firm up in the coming period.

Manganese sulphate

Producers of manganese sulphate reduced prices lately while demand remained poor.

Ex-factory price quotes for manganese sulphate stayed in the range of RMB3,450-3,850/tonne.

The effect of China's weak economy on the trace minerals market will persist, keeping manganese sulphate market sluggish. Even as demands strengthen in the coming weeks, it is less likely to perk up prices.

Ferrous sulphate

The ferrous sulphate remained quiet during the period in review.

Ex-factory price quotes by major producers were unchanged at RMB350-450/tonne.

Ferrous sulphate prices are expected to remain firm while output is low.
