Methionine market quiet in China; prices stay weak
Prices remained weak during the week ended September 9.
The supplier of one major imported dl-methionine quoted in the range of RMB31.50-32/kg, while the price quote of another imported brand was at RMB31.50/kg.
The price quote of locally produced methionine was around RMB29.50/kg.
China's methionine market remained quiet as buyers limited purchases even though poultry inventories were on the rise. Hence, suppliers kept prices low in efforts to clear inventories.
Demand is likely to firm up in the coming weeks as buyers stockpile inventories before October holidays, hence supporting prices to move higher.
