Illegal red swamp crayfish escapes in Vietnam
Nearly 50 kilos of illegally held red swamp crayfish escaped from their cages in Truong Long Tay Commune in Vietnam's southern Hau Giang Province.
The red swamp crayfish were being illegally kept for two months by Le Van Men, a local farmer in the commune.
Red swamp crayfish have large claws capable of digging large holes that can damage irrigation systems.
The Department of Aquaculture provincial head Ngo Quoc Phuc said that the department would co-operate with local authorities to exterminate the red swamp crayfish next week.
