Australian beef and veal export values down in July
The value of Australian beef exports for July were down 7 percent on-year, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
This was despite average value per tonne remaining the same as last year's. Value for the first seven months fell 6 percent compared to the same period last year.
In July, value went down in all major markets for Australian beef (except South Korea) due to a reduction in volumes shipped.
Export values to Japan were down 21 percent on July last year, while shipments to the US were down 14 percent.
However, value of exports to South Korea increased 43 percent on-year, due to the significantly higher volumes shipped.
Volumes to Russia rose 3.5 times due largely to a cut in supplies from Argentina and Brazil.
