Vietnam's MPC's exports record US$241.25 million in January-August

In January-August 2012, Minh Phu Seafood Corporation (MPC), Vietnam's top shrimp exporter, collected nearly US$241.25 million from shipping 20,539 tonnes of products abroad.

The figures represent a rise of 23.91% in value and 27.65% in volume from the same period last year, the local financial website cafef.vn reported September 10.

In order to meet export standards, the company has teamed up with Grobest Corporation, a leading fishery feed producer in Asia, to buy raw shrimps at breeding areas under the standard of the latter.

In the first six months, MPC made an audited consolidated net profit of VND61.98 billion (US$3 million) on revenues of VND3.79 trillion (US$182 million), down 28.58% and up 31.6% on-year, resulting in an earnings per share of VND885 (US$0.04).

This year, the shrimp exporter expects to earn a consolidated net profit of VND715 billion (US$34.3 million) on revenues of VND10.48 trillion (US$503 million), including export value of US$500 million.
