US corn export demand hits 6-year-high

Exports of US corn exceeded 54.3 million tonnes (2.1 billion bushels) for the 2005/2006 marketing year, according to USDA's export sales report released last week.

Sales to the top five markets for US grain - Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan and Egypt rose compared to the previous year. The five accounted for approximately 43 percent of total 2005/06 corn exports.
