India 2006/07 wheat supply at 65.52 million tonnes
India's total availability of wheat from the current crop is estimated at 65.52 million tonnes compared with a demand or consumption projection of 71.32 million tonnes in the current marketing year to March 2007, Minister for Food Sharad Pawar said Monday (September 10).
In reply to a lawmaker's query in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of parliament, Pawar said wheat availability has been taken as 87.5 percent of output, which is estimated at 74.89 million tonnes.
He said around 12.5 percent of output is excluded from availability as seed, feed and wastage.
