Inner Mongolia is China's top milk producer

 

 

With an output of 8.8 million tonnes in 2006, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has become China's top milk producer. The Region's inventory of dairy cattle is also the largest in the country, at three million heads at of December 2006.

 

These data were released recently by Zhou Wenyu, head of Inner Mongolia's Agriculture and Livestock Office.

 

In 2006, 97 Inner Mongolian dairy companies have each posted more than RMB1 million in sales income. Processed milk output from these companies amounted to 6.67 million tonnes and combined sales income were at RMB 33.6 billion.
