Feed prices worry Australian pork producers
Pork producers in Queensland, Australia are now considering their options as soaring feed prices are troubling production.
Though summer crop outlook in parts of the state has improved due to recent rain, pork producers say they are still battling the rising costs and competition from imports.
Paul Taylor, from the central Burnett region, says some producers are planning to get out, although that takes time.
He said farmers thinking a halt in mating should consider the last four months as for farrowing and marketing the pig. He however admits the surge in feed prices and strong competition are making farmers think twice in continuing business with hogs.
