China's grain imports increase 261% on-year for January-July 2012
 

 

China's Ministry of Agriculture announced that the country's grain imports rose 261.3% on-year to 8.68 million tonnes from January to July 2012.
 

The country's net imports of grain totalled 7.99 million tonnes.

 

In the same period, the value of the country's grain imports totalled US$ 2.98 billion, up 220% from the same period of last year.

 

Meanwhile, it exported 695,000 tonnes of grain worth US$430 million, up 9.4% and 3.3% on-year respectively.
