Russia suspends some beef imports from Brazil
Russia has suspended beef imports from some meat processing plants in Brazil, said JBS.
JBS said it did not know why Russia implemented its beef ban, which included four of the firm's processing plants in Brazil, one in Argentina and one in the US.
The company said it would continue supplying its Russian clients with meat products from its other processing plants around the world, which number around 140.
"JBS estimates the financial impact of the measures taken by Russian authorities tends to be of little relevance to the company," it added.
This is the second Russian ban of Brazilian beef since May of this year.
With 190 million head of cattle, Brazil has been the world's leading exporter of beef and meat products since 2004.
